Astragalus has been widely used in Asia as a traditional herbal remedy for various illnesses. The phenolic acids and saponins are considered as the main active compounds contributing to its therapeutic effects (Li et al., 2019).

Elderberry contains flavonoids, which possess a variety of biochemical and pharmacological actions, including antioxidant and immunologic properties. A recent systematic review by Ulbricht et al. (2014) assessed the efficacy and safety of elderberry for the treatment of influenza and concluded that the plant does indeed provide significant therapeutic action.

Garlic is one of earliest known medicinal plants. Some of its main uses are lowering of blood pressure (Ried et al., 2008), and fighting of pathogenic infections as an antimicrobial (Harris et al., 2001).
