EASY TO TAKE TWO A DAY FORMULA
Viridian’s new multi-phytonutrient complex is formulated as a two a day programme. This provides all the benefits of taking a very good multivitamin and also a strong phyto-nutrient complex so essential to enhancing the body’s defences and systems. For best results take either two together with breakfast, or one with breakfast and one with lunch.

VEGETARIAN CAPSULES.
Vegetarian capsules are used by Viridian for a number of reasons. They are able to dissolve much more easily than tablets, especially by people who have impaired digestive systems due to stress and the ageing process. There are also concerns regarding the use of gelatin based products due to fears over BSE etc.

100% ACTIVE INGREDIENTS.

BALANCED B-COMPLEX.

The B-complex used is a balanced formula meeting today’s nutritional requirements. Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) is the major consideration as it is the main anti-stress and ‘energy’ vitamin that the body requires. B5 exerts anti-inflammatory properties whilst a deficiency can lead to various ailments, including fatigue, depression, insomnia, poor muscle co-ordination and muscle cramps.

Deficiencies in the other B vitamins can lead to individuals suffering from one or more of the following; chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, raised cholesterol and migraine headaches.

MULTI ASCORBATE LOW ACID VITAMIN C COMPLEX.

As well as providing 440mg of vitamin C, the multi ascorbate complex also provides the body with highly absorbable levels of Magnesium, Calcium and Zinc. The vitamin C is low acid so as to minimise possible irritation to the digestive system, compared with normal ascorbic acid.

Additionally, the use of organic acerola – nature’s richest source of vitamin C, provides a wide range of synergistic collagen protecting bioflavonoids.

HIGH PHYTONUTRIENT ANTIOXIDANT CONTENT.

The key active compounds found in pine bark extract, grape seed extract, green tea and quercetin are flavonoids, polyphenols, oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs) and catechins. All these compounds have pronounced and varied effects on the body. This can range from catechins in green tea helping to protect against damage to LDL (bad) cholesterol caused by oxygen. The use of green tea increases antioxidant activity in the blood.

OPC’s found in pine bark and grapeseed extracts help protect against free radical damage to cells. This effect can be up to 50 times more active than the antioxidant effect of vitamin C and E. A key advantage of using these extracts is that they are taken up into the cell membranes and help to protect against both water and fat soluble free-radicals.

Other conditions that may be helped by using these types of phytonutrients include visual function, cardiovascular protection, sexual health/performance, varicose veins and atherosclerosis. HIGHLY ABSORBABLE ORGANIC MINERAL CHELATES.

The role of beta carotene as an antioxidant in the body and also within food preparation has long been known about. It converts into vitamin A, helping to boost immune function as well as exerting antioxidant effects. There are also naturally occurring carotenoids that have equally impressive antioxidant ability within the body. These include alpha carotene, cryptoxanthin, zeaxanthin and lutein.

LIPOIC ACID AND Co-Q10.

Lipoic acid plays two major roles in the human body. Firstly it is a unique and powerful antioxidant. Its uniqueness comes from the fact that it is both water and fat-soluble thus allowing it to work throughout the whole body. It also has the remarkable ability to enhance and extend the life of other antioxidant nutrients.
Lipoic acid has also been shown to be essential in the manufacture of glutathione which is required for the production of the most powerful antioxidant in the body- GLUTATHIONE PEROXIDASE.
The other main role of Lipoic acid is as an essential coenzyme in two vital reactions required for the production of cellular energy. Lipoic acid is key to the process of converting sugars into carbohydrates.

Co-Q10 (ubiquinone)

helps to convert food into the energy through producing the energy molecule (ATP). Co-Q10 is also a powerful antioxidant that helps to control the damage caused by free radicals, while also helping to protect vitamin E the major antioxidant of cell membranes and cholesterol. The presence of MCTs in the formula provides a suitable transport medium for both fat soluble nutrients including Co-Q10.

Due to the effect that both of these nutrients have as antioxidants and also on energy production it is no surprise that there use within the body is so far widespread. Some of the studied areas of use include cardio protective, immune supporting, blood sugar regulating, liver protection, high blood pressure and male fertility.

SULPHUR AMINO ACID COMPLEX.

Most of the body’s sulphur requirements are obtained from sulphur containing amino acids found in protein rich foods. The richest sources of sulphur are the amino acids methionine and cysteine. Cysteine is also one of the amino acids that go to make glutathione along with glutamic acid and glysine.
Sulphur is a constituent of teeth, bones and collagen. It is also a component of insulin and as such is needed to regulate blood sugar levels.

Research surrounding sulphur compounds focuses on their antioxidant capabilities via liver detoxification. Other areas of interest are in PMS, mental acuity, immune function, joint integrity/function, and health and maintenance of hair, skin and nails.

IRON FREE

In recent years there has been concern that “iron overnutrition” by otherwise healthy individuals may lead to increased risk for chronic diseases. With this in mind the Multi-Phytonutrient Complex is iron free. For those with supplemental requirements for iron i.e. anemia in pregnancy, menstrual blood loss, adolescent females, or those on poor diets, it would be prudent to take an additional iron supplement separately.
