Natures natural BOTOX!

No one likes to look old, many people go to extreme lengths to stay young looking. Well along with a healthy diet and active lifestyle, Solgar may just have the very product we have all been looking for.

Solgar have An advanced formula that combines hyaluronic acid, chrondroitin sulphate, vitamin C and collagen (BioCell® Collagen II®) to help keep the skin soft, plump and supple and look less wrinkled.  The body's ability to produce hyaluronic acid and collagen declines with age, which can lead to increased dryness, fine lines, wrinkles and sagging.

BioCell Collagen® is a multifaceted healthy aging dietary ingredient that contains a patented composition of naturally occurring hydrolyzed collagen type II (60%), chondroitin sulfate (20%), and hyaluronic acid (10%) in a highly absorbable matrix form that has been the subject of numerous human clinical trials determining safety, efficacy and bioavailability. Research Hydrolysed Collagen Type II Collagen is the most predominant protein in the body. Hydrolysed collagen type II has a major role in the integrity of the dermis layer of the skin. Studies show that daily ingestion of BioCell Collagen Type II® increases the collagen content in the facial skin.

One study shows that an oral nutritional supplement consisting of hydrolyzed collagen, hyaluronic acid, and essential vitamins and minerals, leads to a significant improvement in lines/wrinkles and a reduction in skin dryness and scaling. It also significantly increased the haemoglobin content of the dermis, suggesting intake enhances dermal microcirculation in the face.

Chondroitin Sulphate Type II Collagen is also a source of Chondroitin Sulphate (CS), the most abundant Glycosaminoglycan (GAG) in the human body and helps to form the connective tissue of skin, cartilage, ligaments and bone. CS has been shown to have an inhibiting effect on enzymes such as collagenase, elastase and proteoglycanase, which become over-active with advanced age, destroying cartilage and connective tissue.2 Hyaluronic Acid Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a long chain molecule made up of alternating units of N-acetyl glucosamine and glucuronic acid. Because HA can absorb up to 3,000 times its weight in water, it is an important hydrating agent for the body’s tissues.

HA is found in virtually all tissues and fluids of the body, but is most abundant in the synovial ( joint) fluid, the eyes’ vitreous fluid and in skin. HA has high daily turnover, so large amounts may be needed to maintain adequate levels. HA also possesses antioxidant properties which is important for protecting the skin from the ageing effects of sun exposure.3 HA is thought to play an integral role in healthy wound healing.

It can stimulate DNA synthesis and fibroblast cell division which is required for healthy skin and cartilage maintenance. Young skin is rich in HA, but by the age of 30 it begins to diminish and continues to do so with advancing age. This decline in HA is proposed to be a major causative factor for the dryness and wrinkling that is characteristic of ageing skin. Ordinary or “Native” collagen, (which has not been predigested), provides HA, but the molecules are too large for absorption in the human gut.

BioCell Collagen® uses a patented process which alters the molecular weight and allows for easy absorption through the small intestine. This product contains vitamin C which contributes to collagen formation for the normal function of skin.
